Interview Copilot guides
How do I prepare for a marketing interview?
Marketing interviews ask how you defined the target customer, which message and channels you chose, and what the results were in numbers. They look for reasons more than instinct, so write up the goal metric, result and what you changed after testing for each campaign, and prepare your view on one piece of the company's own marketing.
Common questions
- Your best-performing campaign, and how you measured it
- If your budget were cut in half, what would you keep and what would you cut?
- Who is our target customer, and what would you change in our marketing now?
- What you learned from a campaign that failed
What each area adds
- Performance and growth: acquisition cost and conversion by channel, designing and reading experiments
- Brand and content: message and tone, content that moved a number
- Product marketing: customer research, positioning, launch plans
- Lifecycle and CRM: segmentation, automated messaging, retention and churn metrics
Walking through a portfolio
- Problem: what wasn't working
- Hypothesis and choice: who you decided to reach, with what message, on which channel, and why
- Result: the goal metric and the actual numbers
- Next: what you changed after seeing the results

What if I have no results in numbers to show?
A small experiment works. A personal social account, promoting a club or an event at a part-time job: anything where you set a goal and measured the result.
What should I prepare for a take-home assignment?
Structure it as conclusion, reasons, execution plan and the metrics for success. Expect follow-up questions on budget and priorities after you present.
