Interview Copilot guides
Which AI interview copilot tool is best?
There's no single best one for everyone. Compare whether it runs on your computer, how it hears the call, whether answers come from your resume, whether you can set the interview and answer languages separately, and how much you can try for free. Trying two or three in a mock interview is the surest test.
What to compare
- Platform: Windows, Mac or a browser extension. For a Mac app, check Apple silicon support too.
- Listening: does it add a bot to the meeting or listen to your computer's audio? A bot shows up in the participant list.
- Grounding: can you add your resume and the job posting, and does it avoid making up experience?
- Speed: how long from the end of the question to the first line of the answer. Test it yourself.
- Language: can you interview in English and read answers in your own language?
- Where you read: a small window over your screen, your phone, or both
- AI and cost: only the vendor's AI, or can you connect the ChatGPT, Claude or API key you already have?
- Data: where your resume and transcripts are stored
How to choose
- Keep only the tools that run on your computer.
- Start with the ones you can try without a card and run one mock interview in each.
- Ask each the same five questions and compare answer quality and speed.
- Work out the price from how many interviews you'll have in a month.
Who SpeechShield is for, and who it isn't
SpeechShield is Mac only. It runs on Apple silicon Macs (M1 or later) with macOS 26 or later, and doesn't support Windows or Intel Macs.
- A good fit: people preparing for interviews in two languages, people who want to use the Claude or ChatGPT they already pay for, and people who want their resume kept on their own Mac
- Not a fit: Windows users, and anyone who wants a full script to read
Related questions
Can I compare them on free trials alone?
Most tools offer a trial. SpeechShield gives 60 minutes and 50 answers with no card, which is enough to compare in a mock interview.
Can I trust reviews on Reddit?
They help, but promotional posts are mixed in. Your own test, in your interview language and role, is the most reliable review.
