Interview Copilot guides
Can I use a copilot for an interview?
Only where the interview rules allow it. Mock interviews, solo practice and interviews where the company permits AI are fine. Using AI in an interview that bans it is cheating, and if it comes out it can cost you the offer.
Which copilot?
Microsoft Copilot and GitHub Copilot are general AI assistants for documents and code. An interview copilot is a tool that listens to an interview call and shows talking points for each question. Either way, the same rule decides whether you can use it in an interview.
How to check the rules
- Read the interview invitation and the application guidelines. Coding tests and take-home tasks often state their own AI policy.
- If nothing is written, ask the recruiter. A short question works: "May I refer to notes or AI tools during the interview?"
- If you need captions or another aid because of hearing or language, say so in advance and ask for an accommodation.
Where it's fine
- Mock interviews with a friend, a study group or a career coach over video
- Solo practice with an interview practice video or a voice chat with an AI
- Interviews and assignments that explicitly allow AI tools
- After the interview, to sort through the questions and prepare better answers
Even where it's allowed
Don't read suggestions word for word. Put them in your own words. Interviewers care as much about how you think and speak as about what you say.
Don't claim experience or numbers that aren't yours. When asked about something not on your resume, SpeechShield suggests saying you haven't done it and explaining how you'd approach it.

Can I use it in a coding interview?
Coding interviews often have their own AI policy, so use it only where it's explicitly allowed. In SpeechShield, press ⌘K to attach your screen and get an explanation with code.
Does practicing with a copilot help?
Reading a suggestion and saying it again in your own words trains you to recall your experience faster. Finished sessions stay in your history, so you can go back and fix weak answers.
