Frequently asked questions
What does SpeechShield do in an interview?
It listens to the call on your Mac, transcribes the interviewer's questions and suggests talking points based on your resume and the job posting. Suggestions appear in an overlay on your Mac and on your phone.
Do I have to type or copy the questions?
No. When the interviewer finishes speaking and pauses, SpeechShield suggests an answer on its own. Press ⌘↩ to answer right away, or type a question yourself.
Will it mistake my answers for the interviewer's questions?
When you listen to both your mic and the call, only the call audio triggers suggestions. If anyone starts speaking again, including you, SpeechShield waits instead of suggesting.
Can I read answers on my phone?
Yes. Scan the QR code on your Mac and open it in iOS Safari or Android Chrome on the same Wi-Fi. No app to install. Questions and answers sync as they come in, and your resume and job posting are never sent to the phone.
Do I need to add a bot to the call?
No. SpeechShield listens to the audio your Mac plays, so it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and browser-based calls without any setup.
Will the overlay get in the way of the meeting app?
The overlay floats above other apps, including full-screen ones, without taking focus from the app you're using. Shortcuts like ⌘↩ work while you stay in the meeting app.
Can it use what's on my screen?
Yes. Press ⌘K to capture the screen under your pointer, such as a slide or a shared document, and attach it to the next suggestion. Captures leave out SpeechShield's own windows and are never saved to disk.
Are answers based on my resume?
Yes. Save a resume and job posting to a profile for each company and role, and answers draw on your own experience. Follow-up questions build on earlier answers in the same session.
Can I wear earphones?
Yes. SpeechShield takes the call audio from your Mac directly, so it still hears the interviewer when you wear earphones. Earphones also keep the interviewer's voice out of your mic.
