Meeting Copilot guides
Is there an AI meeting assistant that doesn't join the call?
Yes. Instead of adding a bot participant to the meeting, it listens to the meeting audio on your computer. SpeechShield listens to your Mac's audio, so it works with Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and browser meetings without setup, and nothing is added to the participant list.
How it differs from a bot
- Setup: a bot needs the meeting link or your calendar. Listening to your audio only needs the meeting app open.
- Meeting apps: a bot works only with the apps it supports. Listening works anywhere your computer plays sound.
- Visibility: a bot appears in the participant list, and some companies block outside bots.
- Speakers: a bot can use the names the meeting app provides. Listening usually tells your mic apart from the other side.
What still applies without a bot
An invisible tool doesn't remove the duty to tell people. Some places and organizations require consent to record or transcribe, so when in doubt, say at the start that you're transcribing with AI.
SpeechShield keeps audio recording off by default and saves only the sessions you turn it on for, encrypted on your Mac. Transcripts stay on your Mac too.
Related questions
Can I wear earphones?
Yes. SpeechShield takes the meeting audio straight from your Mac, so it still transcribes the other side when you wear earphones.
Does it work for in-person meetings?
SpeechShield can listen through the microphone, but telling speakers apart and suggesting answers work best on video calls, where the other side comes through system audio.
